Smaller brewery that has grown into a chain around NYC. Managed to stumble into the original location by chance. Most of the beer is middle-of-the-road, appealing to the broadest taste, however, they had a select few that I would deem experimental/unique – definitely a good stop on our journey.

Located in the heart of Union Square, in a space that originally housed the Klepper collapsible kayak store, this is the original Heartland – the one that started it all. With a downtown location, outdoor sidewalk seating, and views of Union Square Park from its mezzanine, it’s beloved by New Yorkers as a classic meeting spot for after-work drinks complemented by addictive bites such as our five-tier appetizer platter. Please note: we feature a different hand-crafted, cask-conditioned ale on the first Friday of every month at this location.
