Pigeon Hill Brewing Company

Unbeknownst to us when we set out for the day, we’d be headed right into the heart of a massive motorcycle gathering called the “Rebel Ride”, but when we rolled into Muskegon, Michigan – that’s where we were. We parked a few blocks away, no big deal for us, and walked to our first stop (Luckily both breweries in Muskegon are almost next door to each other). Despite the large festival outside, we walked right in and got some stools at the bar, mostly due to timing because the bar was fairly crowded. I didn’t do a whole lot of research, and we didn’t want to spend too much time in the middle of the motorcycle party, so we just ordered two pints. We asked if they had anything unique or unusual and the server recommended two beers, “OCP” and “Motor Boatin’ Wheat”.
OCP stands for Oatmeal Cream Pie, and was an oatmeal cream stout. Even on a hot day, it was delicious, light and sweet and creamy, and actually tasted like an oatmeal cream pie a bit. I was more partial to the wheat beer myself. Utilizing lemon grass and citrus it had a crisp and refreshing bite to cut through the heat of the afternoon.
